Stephanie Walsh

Hi, I’m Stephanie, and I’m glad you found your way here. The Beauty Sensation is for anyone who has stood in a beauty aisle holding two products and wondering which one is worth the money. You don’t need a big collection or any special skills to feel at home on this site. You just need a question, a budget, and a little patience with yourself.

Who this site is for

This site is written for everyday readers in the United States who choose and use their beauty products at home. Some of you shop at the drugstore, some of you save up for a splurge, and many of you do both. Korean beauty has a place here as well, because it has become a regular part of how many people shop. Whatever your age or starting point, the goal is the same, which is to help you buy less by mistake and use what you own more confidently.

Find your way around the categories

The site is organized into four categories, and you can start with whichever one matches your question today.

Makeup covers how to apply cosmetics, everyday and occasion looks, Halloween and costume makeup, and product choices for every budget.

Skincare covers non-prescription care for your face and body, including routines, Korean skincare, sunscreen and lotions.

Hair covers washing, styling, curling, cuts and at-home color, along with the products and tools that go with them.

Nails covers natural nail care, polish, gel, press-ons, nail art, safe removal and at-home pedicures.

How to get the most from a product pick

Start by matching a pick to your own skin, hair or nails, and not to whoever happens to be recommending it. Check the current label before you buy, because formulas, shades and prices can change. Look at the return policy too, especially when you’re choosing a foundation shade without a tester. If you’re trying something new on your skin, try a small area first and follow the directions on the package.

Two things to know before you shop

This site shares general beauty information, and it is not medical advice. If something irritates your skin, stop using it, and talk to a doctor or pharmacist if you’re worried.

Some product links are Amazon affiliate links, which means the site can earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. You can read the details on the Disclosure page.
